Magician

How did he do it?---------------------

Magician Conundrum
Daniel Alexander - Magician
You're a volunteer from the audience at a magic show. The magician’s assistant hands you a deck of cards and asks you to shuffle them thoroughly, then show them one by one to the assistant and the audience. As you do so, the magician -- who is blindfolded and has his back to the audience -- correctly identifies each card in the deck.

Some of the audience members assume you must be an accomplice who only pretended to shuffle the cards, but you know they are wrong. There are no wires or radio signals involved. Nobody can work out how the trick is done. In fact, this is one the most mystifying tricks in conjuring.

Months later, you see the magician’s assistant on the street -- and although you say not a word to each other, you suddenly know how the trick was done.

How?

You see the magician's assistant performing as a ventriloquist.

Is the question asking how the trick was done or how he learned how the trick was done?

The question is asking both. When you see the assistant performing as a ventriloquist, you know that is how the trick was done - the magician wasn't identifying the cards at all, the assistant was, only with their mouth closed so it sounded like the magician was talking.
The magician had his back to the audience, so you couldn't see his lips weren’t moving!
